Not only does Tanzania have some of the world's great safari destinations, with Zanzibar on its doorstep, it also has some of the world's best beaches.
A popular option is to tack on a few days at the end of your trip to relax on Zanzibar's beaches after your safari. Thanks to the country's reliable and well-run internal flight network, it's easy to hop from savannah to beach with a short internal flight.
Zanzibar is the most popular choice if you're on safari in Tanzania, but it's not the only option. Neighbouring Kenya has a number of stunning beaches along its east coast, although travel times will be longer if you're going from Tanzania to Kenya.
If you want the ultimate barefoot luxury experience after your safari, you may want to consider a few nights on Mnemba Island.
If you want to combine safari and beach in Tanzania, here are a few things to consider:
Tanzania is one of the world's greatest safari destinations. Few countries can compete with the variety and density of wildlife on offer here.
Plus, thanks to a great internal flight network and the relative proximity of the parks in the north, you can combine a number of different wildlife areas without spending too much time looking at the country through a plane or car window.
The most popular safari route is the Northern Circuit, comprising Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park, The Ngorongoro Crater, and the mighty Serengeti National Park.
The Southern Circuit offers incredible vastness and exclusivity, and includes the stunning Ruaha National Park and Nyerere (fromerly Selous) National Park.
