Tanzania is one of the world’s greatest safari destinations.
But what makes it so great?
Tanzania offers everything you could hope for in an African safari. The wildlife is abundant, the landscapes are breathtaking and there is so much variety.
Each park is utterly different from the last. Short drives or internal flights connect the dots, which means you get to see so much without spending all of your time looking at the country through a car window…
And if you travel between July and October, you have the chance to witness one of the greatest wildlife events on earth, The Great Migration.
Wildebeest herds at sunset, Serengeti National Park
The northern circuit in Tanzania is the most popular travel route.
The northern circuit in Tanzania combines 4 different national parks: Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park, The Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti National Park.
Tarangire National Park is often included in the northern circuit and is fantastic for elephants during the dry season (July - October). If you're short on time, you may want to consider skipping Tarangire and heading straight through to Manyara, the Crater, and then on to the Serengeti.
It's important to note that these parks (particularly the Serengeti) are big and seasonality plays a big role. The time of year you are visiting will determine which of these parks to visit, and whereabouts in the parks you will want to be.

The expansive, remote, and utterly beautiful national parks of Ruaha and Nyerere (formerly Selous) make up Tanzania's southern circuit.
These parks offer remarkable safari experiences. What sets it apart from the north is the sense of exploration and exclusivity. It is not uncommon to go days without seeing another safari vehicle here, a striking difference from the bustling Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater in the north of the country.
The size of these parks mean they are home to an extraordinary amount of wildlife. In fact, Ruaha is home to the highest largest concentration of elephants, lions, and crocodiles in Tanzania.
Africa's tallest mountain and a bucket list item for millions of adventurers, Mount Kilimanjaro towers above Tanzania at 5,895 metres above sea level.
There are a number of trekking routes available, ranging from 5 to 9 days, although we always recommend spending at least 6 days to give yourself more time to acclimatise and maximise chances of summitting.

The tropical island paradise of Zanzibar is the perfect way to end your adventure in Tanzania.
Zanzibar can be easily accessed from the national parks via short internal flights, making Tanzania one of the world's best options for a safari and beach adventure.
There are many fantastic beachfront hotels and villas on Zanzibar. Different parts of the island have different characteristics, the northern tip of the island is largely protected from the tides which gives you access to the beach 24/7. Here, you'll find many of Zanzibar's larger beachfront hotels like Gold's and Breezes.
Along Zanzibar's south-eastern coast you'll find small, luxury private villas. Perfect for honeymooners or those looking for more exclusivity.

Remote tented camps, honeymoon retreats, boutique guesthouses, unapologetic luxury. Tanzania has it all. The accommodation on offer here places Tanzania firmly in the upper echelon…
