Honeymoon Trips in Kenya

Every honeymoon is different - our job is to listen to what your dream Kenyan honeymoon looks like. These trips are just some examples of what is possible in Kenya, but get in touch with us, and we'll create a tailor-made itinerary that's right for you.

Combining Safari & Beach

The sweet spot for a safari & beach honeymoon is 10-12 days, including at least 3 nights on the beach at the end of your safari. This will give you enough time on safari to combine a couple of different locations and enjoy a fantastic variety of safari experiences - and enough time on the beach to relax and unwind (and all without breaking the budget).

On the safari side, you have a number of options here. You’ll definitely want to head into the Masai Mara, either staying inside the main reserve itself, or in one of the Mara Conservancies (or both!). Depending on your interests and budget, you could combine your time in the Mara with a few nights in Amboseli, Samburu, Lewa, or Ol Pejeta. Each offers something unique at different times of year.

If you’re traveling during migration season - you can combine your time in the Mara with a few nights in the Serengeti in Tanzania. This will maximise your chances of seeing a river crossing.

The budget you have available will determine how many destinations you can include, the style of accommodation you stay in, and how long your trip could be. Kenya has an amazing selection of luxury camps and lodges on safari and stunning beachfront hotels by the beach. We can help you figure out which accommodation makes most sense for you, and how to get the best value for your  budget.

On Safari

The Masai Mara offers sweeping savannahs, dramatic sunsets, luxury camps and incredible biodiversity. Enjoy game drives, hot air balloon safaris with champagne breakfasts, and candlelit dinners under the stars. Surrounding the main reserve are the Mara Conservancies - with strict limits on the number of rooms and vehicles allowed within their borders, the conservancies provide a more exclusive, private safari experience.

Laikipia is a vast wilderness home to private conservancies like Ol Pejeta and Lewa. Here you can head out on walking safaris, horseback rides and enjoy sundowners overlooking Mount Kenya.

Samburu is another great option - dramatic landscapes that are very different to the Mara. There are some beautiful, romantic camps here and a different landscape and culture to the Masai.

Near the border with Tanzania you’ll find Amboseli National Park - a place of incredible beauty where you’ll find huge herds of elephants, backdropped by a looming Mount Kilimanjaro.

On The Beach

Kenya’s east coast has some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, including Diani Beach, Lamu, and Watamu. Each offers powdery white sands, turquoise waters and a luxury beachfront resorts. It’s also possible to combine your safari in Kenya with a few nights on the beaches of Zanzibar (or the Seychelles with a longer international flight).

Snorkeling, diving, dolphin watching, deep sea fishing, sunset dhow cruises and water sports are all available on Kenya’s beaches.

Bush Breakfasts & Dinners

Bush breakfasts and bush dinners add a little extra magic to your honeymoon in Kenya. They are available at many camps and lodges but need to be arranged in advance.

Bush breakfasts take place after your morning game drive. The lodge staff will set up a private table in a scenic spot - often by the shade of an acacia tree with beautiful views.

Bush dinners take place as the sun sets, the setup is wonderful with candles and soft lights hung around the acacias, and the sky glistening with stars.

What's the best time of year to honeymoon in Kenya?

The best time to visit Kenya for a honeymoon is between June-October. This is the long dry season so you’ll have great weather on safari and on the beach. December-March is another great time to visit (short dry season). The only months to avoid are April and May which is the long rainy season in Kenya.
