The itinerary below is designed to give you an overview of the route. Get in touch with our team for a full travel itinerary, or to create a tailor-made trip.

Day 1: The Adventure Begins!

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will receive a VIP Meet and Greet before being transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Here you can rest up after your international flight and and meet your guides who will talk you through the plan for the adventure to come.

Depending on your international flight arrival time, you could head straight to Tarangire on arrival. Alternatively, there are some wonderful local activities around Arusha and the Kilimanjaro area if you want to take the day to explore.

Overnight at Rivertrees Country Inn

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, hit the road with your private vehicle and guide as you transfer to Tarangire National Park.

As you reach the park gates, game drive through Tarangire en route to camp. You'll spend your next two nights here with private game drives in Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's biggest reserves and one of East Africa' best wildlife destinations. The park takes its name from the Tarangire River which flows through the park, providing the life-blood for the wealth of resident and migratory game.

Tarangire has some of the highest elephant populations in the country. During peak migration from July to October, around 5,000 of these gentle giants will migrate to Tarangire and you can sometimes see groups of 300 elephants at once.

Overnight at Olkeri Camp

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

Full day on safari at Tarangire National Park with a private vehicle and our expert local guides.

The vast grasslands and Baobab trees create a rugged, 'Out of Africa' feel that's quite distinct amongst Tanzania's national parks. It's also a birder's paradise, with over 500 species of bird calling Tarangire home.

Choose from a private full-day drive with a picnic lunch or a morning/afternoon game drive, before returning to camp for sundowners.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast at camp, jump back into the jeep and transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater. Game drive through Lake Manyara National Park en route, or visit the Mto Wa Mbu village for a local lunch and village walk.

The camp sits along the crater rim offering breathtaking panoramic views of the crater. What once was a fiery, lava strewn, inhospitable area is now home to 25,000 large animals, including lion, black rhino, elephant, and giraffes.

Overnight at Lion's Paw Camp

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

An exciting day today. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater with your private vehicle and guide. The landscape here shifts greatly depending on the season, and you're guaranteed to observe scenes found nowhere else in Tanzania.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the crater has a network of overlapping ecosystems due to its climate and location. The caldera is an important landmark for human history, as well as an essential habitat safeguarding animal diversity. Despite its small area, the caldera has excellent bio-diversity, and several globally threatened species live on these plains. These plains form part of the route of the Great Migration.

You'll have a full day out on safari in the crater with a picnic lunch on the crater floor, before returning to camp for sundowners.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast on the crater rim, transfer to the Manyara airstrip. Here you will board your light air flight to the Kogatende airstrip in Northern Serengeti (amazing views on the this flight!). Upon arrival at the airstrip, the camp team will meet you and transfer you to the camp, game driving through the Serengeti en route.

The Serengeti comes from the Maa word ‘Serengit’, which translates to ‘the place where the land moves on forever.' It is the far-reaching, endless savannahs that inspired the Lion King, and is now the most popular safari destination in the world.

Spend the next 3 nights in this vast, untamed wilderness. Head out on morning and afternoon game drives with your experienced guide. If you are travelling during migration season, you have a good chance to witness a river crossing as thousands of wildebeest charge across the Grumeti and Mara rivers, attempted to dodge the crocs that lurk underneath and the big cats waiting on the other side.

Also keep an eye out for the Big 5: rhino, lions, leopards, buffalo, and elephants.

Overnight at Serengeti River Camp

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

A full day exploring the Serengeti National Park, including morning and afternoon game drives. There are also a number of optional activities available around the lodge.

Tanzania’s oldest park, covering a whopping 1.5 million hectares, and home to an incredible diversity of animals. You might also spot the four endangered animal species in the park; the black rhino, elephant, wild dog, and cheetah.

A wonderful experience to add on to your time in the Serengeti is a hot air balloon safari. Get in touch with our team to find out more.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park

Another full day on safari in the Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives.

Day 9: Zanzibar

After a final breakfast overlooking the savannah, transfer to the airstrip to connect with your light aircraft flight to Zanzibar. You will be met at the hotel and transferred to your hotel/lodge in Zanzibar.

There are many accommodation options in Zanzibar, our team can talk you through the options and help you find the right spot for you.

Anchored 22 miles off Tanzania's coast, Zanzibar is an archipelago of over 50 islands and islets. The meeting point between Africa, Arabia and India, this semi-autonomous region is the perfect place to relax after your safari on some of the most impressive beaches in the world.
